Meet Felix Olufade and Jide Tomoshegbo, a backend/ smart contract developer and a frontend developer respectively. They both met on the Reach platform and have developed a strong bond working on the project together.

1. Did you complete your project on time?

Yes, we did.

2. Describe the primary features/functions of your app.

The primary function of the app is to take deposits from participants and grant them access to the money once a claim is triggered.

Each participant will connect with their Algo wallet to initiate a deposit, and when they apply for a withdrawal, it is paid into their wallet.

3. What was going through your head at the start of the hack?

Jide: Found it difficult to wrap my head around the Reach language at the start but the tutorials helped a lot.

Felix: Understanding the Reach language at first was quite challenging based on the fact that it’s a new one and I was already used to Solidity but once I got a grasp of it, it was fun working on the project.

4. What did you do to dive into your project (e.g. review documentation, create diagrams, etc.).

Jide: Review documentation for reach and tried other tutorials.

Felix: I went through the videos posted on the YouTube channel and tutorials.

5. The first time you asked the community for help, what were you struggling with?

Jide: I was struggling with connecting a wallet to the app on the frontend.

Felix: I was getting an error message anytime I tried to deploy the contract on the backend.

6. What were the most challenging obstacles to overcome (and how did you overcome them)?

Jide: Trying to use functional components for the frontend, not enough resources.

Felix: I encountered so many error messages while running the smart contract and there wasn’t enough documentations to cover them.

7. What surprised you about building in Reach? Was anything faster/easier than you were expecting?

The program flow was straightforward to grasp.

8. If given the chance to enhance/expand upon the features/functions of your app, what would you add?

We would love to add an auto debit feature that will automatically debit the participant’s account as at when due.

9. Any closing thoughts on your project, the Bounty Hack, or building in Reach?

Jide: I would love the weekly challenge to continue.

Felix: Building this project, I had mixed feelings of fear, anxiety, excitement and it pushed me towards the completion of this project.

10. Gushing testimonial about how developing blockchain applications in Reach changed your life (optional)

Reach language is a breathe of fresh air. It gives us other options to be able to build smart contracts and Dapps and the tutorials and workshops are easy like ABC.
